American Idle?

Does it make anyone else sick to know that more people voted for the American Idol winner than in any presidential election. I mean more people formerd an opinion on who they want to see sing cover tunes on a cruise ship than who they'd want to see run the country. Are people really this desperate to be on TV, I mean what have all the past American Idols really done? Aside from Kelly Clarkson, nothing of merit... Maybe a fair or carnival in some southern state. This is why every other country hates us.
